Thompson’s Family Teas has experienced record-breaking success at the Great Taste Awards this year. Punjana, Northern Ireland’s favourite tea, has stretched their award-winning Great Taste run to 10 years, a feat achieved by no other blended tea bag in this all-important category.  Cousins, Ross and David Thompson, blend their beloved brand in their state of the art tea blending facility in Belfast carrying on the Thompson Family’s passion for quality for over 120 years.

Punjana, born and blended in Belfast since 1896, began its journey when founder Robert S Thompson trained in the art of tea tasting and soon became known for his uncompromising devotion to quality.

Today, as 3rd generation Thompson’s, they share this passion for quality and take great pleasure in selecting teas from only the very finest gardens in Assam, Kenya and beyond. These tea leaves are highly prized and command a greater price. These are the leaves which find their way into the Thompson’s blends.

It takes a certain amount of courage to choose what is best over what is most profitable, but the Thompson’s stay focused on sourcing only the highest quality tea leaves, and simply can’t be persuaded to do it any other way.

Thompson’s Decaf blend was also recognised in the Great Taste Awards as best-in-class, beating all other decaf tea entries, receiving a unique 2 Gold Stars from the Guild of Fine Foods.

Their considerable success in the prestigious Great Taste Awards is undoubtedly due to their obsessive love of quality and the fact that they personally taste-test each and every blend they produce.

Alongside this recent victory, Punjana was once again crowned Northern Ireland’s favourite product with The People’s Choice Award as voted for by the public at this year’s prestigious Northern Ireland Food & Drink Awards.

You can also find the range of Thompson’s exotic loose teas that have now become afternoon teas of choice in such iconic locations as the Titanic Ballroom, National Trust properties and Hastings luxury hotels.
