The smells, passion and heart of an idyllic childhood in Italy have gone into a new alternative to the table staple, tomato ketchup.

Luca Montorio, a native of Turin now living in Portaferry, has combined the simplest of ingredients to perfect an artisan product embracing a long tradition of homegrown products created in his ancestors’ kitchens generations ago.

Luca has put his Latin soul into his new PEPPUP sauces, which marry the much-loved classic Italian combination of roasted red pepper with tomato to offer a new interpretation of ketchup as a wholesome alternative to shop-bought products.

Testing out his recipe on hungry family and friends, it was a sure fire hit and one he couldn’t keep to himself.

Soon, his intensely rich condiment, which contains only roasted pepper, tomato, sugar, salt and vinegar, was forming the basis for just a select, few varieties including PEPPUP Original, PEPPUP Mild Chilli and PEPPUP Reduced Sugar and Salt.

The truly authentic-tasting and versatile sauce is a wonderful complement to favourite dishes, from poultry to burgers and eggs and more. The only limit is the imagination.

PEPPUP has already won a gamut of awards including a Great Taste Award in 2014 for PEPPUP Original.

It also scored three Great Taste Awards in 2015 for PEPPUP Original, PEPPUP Mild Chilli and PEPPUP Reduced Sugar and Salt and was shortlisted in the UTV Business Eye Awards in November 2015.
